Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka were formally sworn in on Sunday, October 20, as Indonesia's eighth president and fourteenth vice president, respectively, for the 2024-2029 term at the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) and House of Representatives (DPR) building in Jakarta.

In his inaugural speech at the MPR in the Nusantara Building, President Prabowo Subianto reaffirmed his dedication to leading Indonesia with integrity and accountability, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing the welfare of all citizens during his administration.

“We will administer the Republic of Indonesia with genuine intent, ensuring that the needs of every citizen are prioritized, including those who did not support us,” he stated. The President recognized both domestic and global challenges confronting the nation. Despite Indonesia's rich natural resources, he pointed out various hurdles and threats, underscoring the necessity of courage in tackling these issues.

“I urge everyone, particularly leaders among scholars, clerics, business leaders, political figures, youth, and students, to unite in confronting these challenges,” he called. President Prabowo also highlighted ongoing internal issues, such as corruption, budget mismanagement, and collusion between officials and unethical business practices.

It is essential to acknowledge the serious financial discrepancies, irregularities, and the collusion between political and governmental figures at all levels with unpatriotic business interests. This reality cannot be overlooked, he asserted. In his address, the President highlighted that numerous Indonesians still endure poverty, including children who attend school without having breakfast and study in inadequately maintained facilities.

The President cautioned against celebrating statistical improvements without a thorough understanding of the broader context. He called for unified action to tackle these challenges. "We must confront threats and difficulties with courage and approach obstacles with resilience. Let us collaborate and unite our efforts to discover solutions and surmount these challenges," he stressed.
