Ready-to-use SIG Concrete For The Construction Of The Bayung Lencir - Tempino Toll Road

Friday, 26 Jul 2024

PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) and its business unit, PT Varia Usaha Beton (VUB), have contributed to the construction of the first toll road in Jambi Province, the Bayung Lencir - Tempino (Baleno) Toll Road. From October 2023 to June 2024, VUB has supplied 44,000 m3 of ready-mixed concrete for this National Strategic Project (PSN).

The Baleno Toll Road is part of the Trans Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS) that connects Jambi Province to Palembang and Lampung. This toll road will improve connectivity in Sumatra, reducing travel time from 4-5 hours to just 1.5 hours, saving more than half of the travel time.

In the construction of the Baleno Toll Road, SIG applied ready-mixed concrete with many advantages, such as easy application, optimal drying time, better flexural strength, and a maximum strength final result. Similar products have been used in projects such as the Sigli - Banda Aceh Toll Road, Balikpapan - Samarinda Toll Road, Yogyakarta International Airport, and Jakarta International Stadium.

SIG's Corporate Secretary, Vita Mahreyni, stated that VUB has been involved in the construction of Section 2 of the Baleno Toll Road by supplying ready-mixed concrete from the VUB batching plant in Bayung Lencir, Musi Banyuasin, South Sumatra. From October 2023 to June 2024, the amount of concrete supplied was 44,000 m3, reaching around 95% of the total 46,000 m3 to be supplied.

"SIG is proud to contribute to the construction of the Baleno Toll Road. Hopefully, the presence of this infrastructure will improve accessibility and connectivity between regions, facilitating the mobility of people and goods, and ultimately accelerating economic growth and equality in Indonesia," said Vita Mahreyni.

Vita Mahreyni explained that SIG's participation in supporting the sustainable development agenda in Indonesia is aimed at optimizing the use of environmentally friendly building materials, as seen in the construction project in the Nusantara Capital (IKN) which promotes the theme of sustainable and smart city.

"In addition to a variety of portfolios for various development needs, SIG also ensures the smooth supply and timely delivery from the reliability of an extensive operational and distribution network to meet the needs across all regions in Indonesia," concluded Vita Mahreyni.
