Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has decided that Indonesia is willing to join as a member of the New Development Bank (NDB) to obtain cooperation in financing sustainable development in the country.

This was conveyed by Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani, at the Presidential Palace complex, Jakarta, Tuesday, after accompanying the discussion process between President Prabowo Subianto and NDB President, Dilma Rousseff, in the meeting.

"So, earlier with President Dilma conveyed to the President about various possibilities for cooperation and the possibility of NDB attracting Indonesia as a member. The President heard the explanation and decided that we would become members," said Sri Mulyani.

Sri Mulyani said that Indonesia had undergone various technical discussions with the New Development Bank before finally deciding to join as a member.

In the meeting, she explained that various technical aspects had been discussed with the NDB, including membership requirements, contributions from other member countries, and the role of the NDB in supporting Indonesia's economic development.

The NDB is a multilateral development bank established by the BRICS countries to finance infrastructure projects and sustainable development in developing countries.

NDB focuses on infrastructure development, then on development to combat poverty with programs that support industrialization so that it will increase job creation.

According to Sri Mulyani, one of the potential collaborations that is expected is cooperation between NDB and Danantara as an Indonesian infrastructure financing institution.

"We also have Danantara, later we can collaborate and so on," she said.
