President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, has expressed his determination for the National Football Team (Timnas) to qualify and compete in the World Cup. "Indonesia must participate in the World Cup. This is our commitment," stated President Prabowo in front of PSSI officials, senior athletes, and several ministers from the Red and White Cabinet during the inauguration of 17 stadiums at Gelora Delta Sidoarjo, East Java, on Monday. To achieve this goal, the President has instructed all relevant parties to take action, which includes training athletes, renovating and constructing stadiums to meet FIFA standards, and revitalizing amateur clubs and leagues. "I urge all stakeholders to support this initiative. I appreciate the collaboration among all government entities, the executive branch, and the parliament. We will streamline regulations, improve necessary frameworks, and enhance the processes to assist PSSI in forming a strong national team," the President remarked. During the same event, Prabowo concurred with PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir's statement that football serves as a symbol of national pride. "It is indeed true, as the PSSI Chairman mentioned, that football represents the dignity of a modern nation," President Prabowo affirmed. He further emphasized, "A strong nation is one that possesses both a resilient spirit and physical strength. Only with robust physical and mental fortitude can a nation stand tall and become a great country." Additionally, the President highlighted that the renovation and complete construction of 17 stadiums across various regions in Indonesia exemplify the government's support. Looking ahead, the President set a target for the government to build up to 20 new stadiums within the next 2 to 3 years. "Ultimately, every district should have a quality stadium," Prabowo concluded.
