Indonesia-Vietnam Target To Print 18 Billion US Dollars Through Bilateral

The governments of the Republic of Indonesia and Vietnam are targeting to record transactions worth 18 billion US dollars (Rp294.1 trillion) by 2028 through strengthened bilateral economic relations between the two countries. 

"We agree to achieve bilateral economic relations reaching a target of 18 billion US dollars by 2028," said Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto when giving a joint statement with Secretary General of the Vietnamese Communist Party To Lam at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Monday. 

In general, the close foreign partnership between Indonesia and Vietnam is certain to be upgraded to a comprehensive strategic partnership or increasingly comprehensive strategic cooperation. 

Therefore, there are several things that were agreed upon in the latest bilateral meeting between the Indonesian and Vietnamese delegations to provide benefits for both countries. 

There are three cooperation agreements agreed upon today, namely cooperation in the fisheries industry, cooperation in the field of engineering training and digital economy education, and central bank cooperation between Indonesia and Vietnam. 

"We really want to strengthen and carry out cooperation in almost all fields. Politics, economy, defense and security, people-to-people fields with exchanges of visits in the fields of education and science. In almost all fields we want to increase cooperation and carry out in accordance with good economic integration," said Prabowo. 

Previously, in a bilateral meeting between the Indonesian and Vietnamese delegations, President Prabowo Subianto in a bilateral meeting with the Secretary General of the Communist Party of Vietnam (PKV) To Lam asked that Indonesia and Vietnam could increase a more comprehensive partnership. 

In a meeting at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Monday, President Prabowo said that increasing cooperation would strengthen the relationship that has been fostered between Indonesia and Vietnam since 1955 or 70 years ago. 

"This year must be considered a very good momentum to increase our relationship to a higher level, to the level of a comprehensive strategic partner," said President Prabowo to the Vietnamese delegation. 

Prabowo said that the similarities in history and values, especially in terms of maintaining the independence and sovereignty of the country by fighting against colonization, both imperialism and colonialism, are one of the similarities shared by Indonesia and Vietnam. 

With the same vision, Indonesia and Vietnam must plan the future to bring prosperity to the nation and become an advanced country by 2045.
