The Second Commission of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) has indicated that the consideration for the refocusing of the budget for the development of the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) serves as an allocation to other critical sectors. Member of the Second Commission, Ahmad Doli Kurnia, emphasized that the budget refocusing by the Ministry of Finance for the IKN development, originating from the Ministry of Public Works, is grounded in the spirit of also addressing other sectors. Ahmad Doli further noted that amid fluctuating global economic conditions, countries worldwide are currently managing their finances prudently. "At this moment, the global situation necessitates not only Indonesia but also other nations to implement budgetary tightening and efficiency measures," he stated. According to Ahmad Doli, the refocusing of the budget does not imply a complete halt to the IKN development. "I believe that all programs, including major initiatives, may require some adjustments," he remarked. Previously, Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo revealed that the budget for the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) has been blocked, thus the progress of its realization for 2025 cannot yet be reported. "The realization of the IKN budget seems to be nonexistent. I will explain, since our budget has been entirely blocked, how can we discuss progress when there is no budget?" Dody stated at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday, February 6, 2025. Dody acknowledged that the budget is being utilized for other programs, humorously noting that one of these is for the ministers' lunch program. "The progress is essentially for purchasing the minister's lunch," Dody quipped.
