Thursday, 23 Jan 2025

President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, has allocated a budget of IDR 48.8 trillion for the continuation of the development of the Nusantara Capital City (IKN), particularly in the Core Government Area, over the next five years.

This announcement was made by the Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), following a limited meeting led by President Prabowo regarding the IKN development, which included the Head of the Nusantara Capital Authority, Basuki Hadimuljono, the Minister of Housing and Settlements, Maruarar Sirait, and the Minister of Public Works, Dody Hanggodo, at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday.

"Today, President Prabowo Subianto confirmed that the budget of IDR 48.8 trillion for the continuation of IKN development has been approved for the next five years," stated Minister AHY during a press briefing at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta.

AHY emphasized that, in accordance with President Prabowo's directives, the development in IKN will proceed according to the established timeline, with the first phase initiated in 2022 during the administration of the seventh President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, and the second phase scheduled for 2025-2029 under President Prabowo Subianto's administration.

According to AHY, various infrastructures in IKN have been completed 100 percent in the first phase, including the Garuda Palace, the Presidential Palace, and the Coordinating Ministry building.

The budget for the second phase of development in IKN will be allocated to complete supporting facilities and the office ecosystem for the legislative and judicial branches.

AHY noted that the financing for the continuation of development in IKN is expected to come from multiple sources, not solely from the state budget (APBN), but also from private sector contributions.

"Certainly, there will be funding from the state budget, as well as from non-state budget sources. This represents a collaborative effort and a strong partnership between the government and business entities. We also hope that the private sector can contribute positively and be well integrated," stated AHY.
