President Prabowo Subianto has departed for Cairo, Egypt, to participate in the D8 Summit. Following this event, he is scheduled to meet with several prominent figures. "Upon the conclusion of the summit, I will engage in informal meetings with various economic and industrial leaders," Prabowo stated at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base on Tuesday, December 17, 2024. Subsequently, Prabowo will travel to Malaysia, where he is expected to meet with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. "I will also make a stop in Malaysia to meet with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim," Prabowo remarked. He did not provide further details regarding the topics of discussion with Anwar Ibrahim. In Egypt, Prabowo will undertake several activities, including a meeting with Egyptian President Abdul Fattah el-Sisi. Following this, he will attend the D8 Summit in Cairo. Prabowo noted that this visit marks the first state visit by an Indonesian president to Egypt since 2013. Prabowo emphasized that Egypt is a close friend and a strategic partner for Indonesia, highlighting its significance in the Middle East. "I will then attend the D8 Summit. The D8 is an organization for economic cooperation and development among eight developing countries, established in 1997, which includes Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Turkey, and Pakistan," Prabowo added.
