The West Java Representative Office of Bank Indonesia (BI) has reported that transactions using the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) in West Java are the highest in the country. Muhammad Nur, the Head of the West Java Representative Office, revealed that as of September 2024, QRIS transactions in West Java have reached IDR 90.86 trillion, with a transaction volume of 873.36 million. "This is certainly an important asset for us, as we believe that with digitalization, the economy will become increasingly efficient," Nur stated during the West Java Economic Society (WJES) event in Bandung on Monday. Nur noted that the number of QRIS merchants in West Java has reached 7.5 million, accounting for approximately 21 percent of the national total of 34 million merchants. "Meanwhile, the number of QRIS users in this province has reached 11.8 million, which is about 22 percent of the national total of 53 million users," Nur added. He emphasized that this achievement will positively impact economic growth, particularly for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in West Java, enabling them to leverage digitalization to enhance their marketing efforts. BI is also collaborating with local MSMEs to create a cashless payment ecosystem and engage them in various non-cash payment campaigns and product promotions. "Digitalization is not only for payment systems but also for marketing through social media. This certainly has a significant impact on increasing MSME sales," he remarked. With these accomplishments, Nur expressed hope that West Java will continue to be a key driver of national economic digitalization while supporting the growth of MSMEs and enhancing regional economic competitiveness. "We hope that West Java will maintain its position at the top, ideally until the end of this year, so that it can emerge as a champion once again, as evidenced during the recent National Coordination Meeting on P2DD," he concluded.
