Tuesday, 06 Aug 2024

To show its commitment to supporting the growth of the cosmetics and skincare industry in Indonesia, PT Kosmetika Global Indonesia (KGI) has signed a commitment deed as a Guardian for Cosmetic SMEs alongside the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM). The signing took place during the opening ceremony of Wellfest 2024: Natural Beauty and Wellness at Central Park Mall, Jakarta, with the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, and Acting Head of BPOM, L. Rizka Andalusia, in attendance. Shandy Purnamasari, the Founder of KGI, signed the agreement along with five other cosmetic companies.

During the event, Shandy Purnamasari, who is also the Founder of J99 Corp., expressed that this signing is a tangible demonstration of KGI's commitment to fulfilling its social responsibilities to the Indonesian community. “Under J99 Corp., KGI upholds the CHAMPION values, one of which is responsibility. We are dedicated to carrying out corporate social responsibility as a way to thank the Indonesian people for their support in our company’s growth and progress so far. KGI’s participation as a Guardian for Cosmetic SMEs initiated by BPOM reflects our commitment to CSR in advancing SMEs in Indonesia, especially in the cosmetics and skincare manufacturing sector,” she stated.

In the same event, L. Rizka Andalusia, Acting Head of BPOM, mentioned, “Wellfest 2024 is a platform where the public can gain insights into wellness lifestyles and discover and purchase safe and quality beauty and wellness products, including natural medicine, health supplements, and cosmetics. BPOM, in collaboration with various sectors, continues to support the growth of Indonesia's wellness industry, including the domestic cosmetics industry, to enhance competitiveness in the global market.”

As part of Wellfest 2024, BPOM has launched a program called "Adoptive Parents for MSMEs in Natural Medicine and Cosmetics." This initiative aims to support small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the natural medicine and cosmetics sector by enhancing their knowledge about licensing, facility standards, product quality, technology, and marketing. The goal is to help these MSMEs meet regulations and grow faster while boosting their competitiveness. We hope that Wellfest 2024: Natural Beauty and Wellness will serve as a tangible demonstration of our commitment to the growth of the wellness industry and the improvement of Indonesia's economy.

As the adoptive parent for cosmetic MSMEs, KGI will take on the responsibility of supporting the MSMEs under its wing. This support can include outreach, technical guidance, technology transfer, mentoring, internships, equipment provision, promotion, and marketing, among other forms. The aim is to address the challenges faced by the adopted MSMEs effectively.

Shandy expressed gratitude to BPOM for trusting KGI to participate in this Adoptive Parent Program. "Thank you to BPOM and other related agencies for believing in KGI's involvement in the Adoptive Parents for Cosmetic MSMEs program."

As an adoptive parent, KGI is committed to upholding moral values and the CHAMPION principles that are core to our J99 community throughout this program. With a winning spirit, KGI is dedicated to equipping the MSMEs we mentor so they can become self-sufficient and strive for excellence in the cosmetics sector. This aligns with our mission to further advance local businesses to support the nation's economy. Bismillah, we hope that this initial step we take together will help Indonesian cosmetic MSMEs thrive and expand, not just locally but also on a global scale.
