Friday, 19 Jul 2024

Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan stated that Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week (JMFW) is an important icon of collaboration among various stakeholders. The reason is, JMFW shows the form of cooperation of all parties in realizing Indonesia's aspirations as the center of the world's modest fashion. Collaboration supporting JMFW is important to carry out the President of Indonesia's order for Indonesia to become the center of the halal industry and the qibla of the world's modest fashion.

This was conveyed by Minister Zulkifli Hasan during the Launch of Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week 2025 at the Ministry of Trade office in Jakarta on Wednesday, (17/6). The peak event of JMFW 2025 will be held on October 9-12, 2024 at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD City, Tangerang, Banten, in conjunction with the implementation of Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) 2024.

"JMFW shows that Indonesia has what we call collaboration. If we want to become the center of the world's modest fashion, the key word is cooperation. This is our strength to produce something spectacular. This is also the initial spirit of the establishment of JMFW, which is to collaborate in an ecosystem," said the Minister.

Accompanying Minister Zulkifli Hasan were the Acting Secretary General of the Ministry of Trade Suhanto, the Acting Director General of National Export Development (PEN) of the Ministry of Trade Mardyana Listyowati, the Director General of Consumer Protection and Trade Order (PKTN) of the Ministry of Trade Moga Simatupang, and the Director General of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Trade Budi Santoso.

The Minister hopes that the peak event of JMFW 2025 will attract many visitors because it coincides with TEI 2024. He is optimistic that the cultural diversity and synergy that will be shown by JMFW 2025 can support Indonesia's efforts to dominate the global modest fashion market.

"Buyers from all over the world will see us. I am optimistic with all efforts supported by the potential of cultural diversity, local wisdom, and our human resources. Indonesian modest fashion will not only inspire the world, but also be able to dominate the global market," emphasized the Minister.

According to the Minister of Trade, the journey to make Indonesia one of the world's modest fashion centers has been pursued for a long time. However, to accelerate the achievement of this vision, the strategies carried out by stakeholders must be integrated, efficient, and effective. Since its formation in 2021, JMFW initiated by the Ministry of Trade and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) has formed an ecosystem with ministries, institutions, business sectors, academics, banking, associations, and media.

As a form of synergy at JMFW 2025, the Ministry of Trade and the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy held seminars and curation in four cities in Indonesia, namely Pekanbaru, Makassar, Solo, and Bogor. This activity was carried out to select modest fashion entrepreneurs through mentoring and facilitation to participate in the main event of JMFW 2025. Currently, 34 entrepreneurs have been selected to participate in JMFW 2025.

In terms of human resources development in the field of modest fashion, the Ministry of Trade collaborated with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology by facilitating students from Vocational Education Units (SPV) to showcase their best works at the main event of JMFW 2025.

Meanwhile, in the cosmetics sector this year, Wardah once again became one of the makeup brands that will showcase its innovative products at JMFW 2025.

This year, JMFW also partnered with the Indonesian Textile Association (API) which will have a special area for its members. JMFW can provide opportunities for the textile industry to build business networks with fashion brands in promoting the increased use of domestic textile products.
