The President Director of Telogorejo Hospital, Semarang, Dr. Alice Sutedjo Lisa, said that a healthy diet and lifestyle increase the chances of success for couples undergoing IVF programs.

"Modern lifestyle, stress, and unhealthy food affect the success rate of having children," said Dr. Alice at the opening of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic and Embryology Laboratory of Telogorejo Hospital, Semarang, Tuesday.

She said that there are many things that can affect the success of a couple's program to have children.

The current generation, she said, is reluctant to eat vegetables and prefers fast food.

In fact, she continued, a healthy diet according to nutrition and high protein must be met.

In addition, she also emphasized the importance of exercising.

"The fatter people are, the more their hormones will be disturbed," she added.

Another factor that affects the success of a program to have children is the importance of early detection so that you know the quality of good egg cells.

According to him, most couples who follow the IVF program are over 35 years old. As a result, he continued, the percentage of success in getting pregnant also decreased.

The embryology laboratory of Telogorejo Hospital Semarang, he said, is trying to answer the various problems faced through international standard updates.

He said the update of the embryology laboratory standards in the fertility unit service allows for an increase in the success rate for getting pregnant through the IVF program.

"With more sophisticated equipment, it is possible to process embryos better. The success rate, which was previously around 20 percent, has now increased to 40 percent," he added.
