Balancing urban development with environmental sustainability is a challenge in itself. Amidst the lack of green open spaces, various initiatives have emerged that promote urban farming and a sustainable lifestyle. One of them is Kebun Kumara (@kebunkumara), founded by Siti Soraya Cassandra as a green oasis amidst the hustle and bustle of the city. By utilizing Meta platforms such as Instagram and WhatsApp, Sandra has succeeded in inspiring many people to reconnect with nature. Here is the story of Kebun Kumara in encouraging the trend of gardening and a sustainable lifestyle. Kebun Kumara's journey in encouraging a sustainable lifestyle In 2016, Sandra and her colleagues founded Kebun Kumara with the spirit of living a sustainable lifestyle, especially through the application of permaculture. They started with a small plot of land as a place to experiment, wanting to prove that gardening in urban areas does not require a large area. A year later, Kebun Kumara began developing various programs to raise public awareness about environmental sustainability. Since then, they have been actively collaborating with communities, companies, and educational institutions to encourage environmentally friendly behavior for all groups, from children to adults. One of their main initiatives is an educational program in the form of classes and workshops that teach how to garden, make compost, and manage waste. In addition, Kebun Kumara also expands its impact by providing gardening products and garden creation and maintenance services on various scales.
