Ramadan is not only a moment to increase worship, but also an opportunity to reflect on a more environmentally friendly lifestyle. One way is to implement more sustainable worship practices. This awareness was highlighted in a discussion entitled "Ramadan Light: Carrying Out Worship with Sustainable Energy" organized by Suara Muhammadiyah, Greenfaith Indonesia, MOSAIC, 1000Cahaya, and the Muhammadiyah Central Executive Council. This discussion was held to welcome the holy month of Ramadan. "This event aims to increase public awareness of the importance of clean energy from an Islamic perspective and encourage more environmentally friendly Ramadan worship practices," said Deputy Chairperson of the Muhammadiyah Central Executive Council and Executive Director of the Muhammadiyah Climate Center, Agus S. Djamil, Wednesday (2/19). Agus also highlighted the great potential of renewable energy in Indonesia, such as hydroelectric power plants (PLTA), geothermal, and ocean energy. He emphasized that the energy transition must consider low Levelized Cost of Electricity (LCOE) costs and optimal returns on investment. "Renewable energy is not only environmentally friendly, but also economical in the long term," he said. Furthermore, Agus reminded that Indonesia has abundant energy resources, ranging from water, geothermal, sea, sun, to wind. However, dependence on energy imports is still a major challenge. "This is the time for us to utilize natural resources to realize energy independence," he added.
