Press Release: The Minister Of Tourism Invites UAE Investors To Increase Investments In Indonesia's Tourism Sector

The Minister of Tourism, Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, undertook an official overseas visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to invite investors from the region to increase their investments in Indonesia's increasingly promising tourism sector.

During her visit, Minister Widiyanti held a bilateral meeting with the UAE's Minister of Economy, Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri. She also engaged with representatives from Nirvana Travel & Tourism, Haliburg Group, and Etihad Airways in Abu Dhabi on Saturday, November 23, 2024.

In this context, the Minister promoted various tourist destinations in Indonesia that are appealing to UAE travelers and encouraged UAE investors to enhance their investments in Indonesia's tourism sector, which is becoming more conducive and promising.

"During my working visit to Abu Dhabi, I witnessed the significant potential for UAE tourists to visit Indonesia. In 2023, the realization of tourism sector investments from the UAE to Indonesia saw a notable increase," stated Minister Widiyanti.

In her discussions with Minister Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri, she explored various opportunities and strategies to strengthen cooperation in the tourism sector, including the promotion of destinations and strategic investments.

"I am optimistic that this collaboration will further enhance tourism cooperation between Indonesia and the UAE in the future," remarked Minister Widiyanti.

In her meetings with Nirvana Travel & Tourism and Haliburg Group, the Minister noted a surge in UAE investments in Indonesia in 2023.

This figure has increased nearly sixfold from 2022, which stood at 3.4 million USD, with the leading business sectors being restaurants, travel agency activities, and star-rated hotels. For the realization in 2024, an amount of 1.8 million USD has already been recorded, maintaining a similar profile and scope.
