PT Panasonic Gobel Indonesia (PGI) has launched the Panasonic Service Centre as a Teaching Factory Workshop at SMKN 8 Bandung, blending education with industry practice. This program offers technical training in cooling and air conditioning, along with competency certification through BNSP and Panasonic's industrial pathways. This initiative is part of Panasonic's strategic move to enhance the vocational education ecosystem in Indonesia. The inauguration took place on Monday, October 28, 2024, at SMKN 8 Bandung, located at Jl. Kiliningan No. 31, Buah Batu, Bandung. Notable attendees included Harry Wibowo, MBA, Director of GA & HR at PT. Panasonic Manufacturing Indonesia; Budi Hudaya, Branch Head of PGI Bandung; Sugeng Supriyadi, BSc, from the Bandung City Manpower Office; Dr. Agus Setiawan, S.Pd, M.Si., Principal of SMKN 4 Bandung; Drs. Agung Indaryatno, M.Pd., Principal of SMKN 3 Bandung; Asep Yudi Mulyadi, S.STP, M.A.P, Head of the West Java Education Department's Regional Office VII; and Drs. Edy Purwanto, M.M, Head of the PSMK Division of the West Java Education Department. Heru Santoso, Vice President Director of PT Panasonic Gobel Indonesia, emphasized that this program reflects Panasonic's commitment to developing skilled human resources ready for the industrial world. This collaboration also includes PT Panasonic Manufacturing Indonesia and PT Gobel Dharma Nusantara, further solidifying the Gobel group's role in advancing vocational education in Indonesia. The program aligns with the Link and Match initiative between education and industry, ensuring that students' practical skills are honed through direct engagement with the latest technology and industry practices. "Panasonic is not just about delivering quality products; we also aim to nurture young talent capable of competing in the global market. The launch of this Teaching Factory Workshop is a significant step towards integrating education with industry practice." We believe that collaborations like this are a strategic move to prepare a skilled workforce ready to compete,” said Heru. To create a more integrated education ecosystem, the Panasonic Authorized Service Center (PASS) program is also part of this Teaching Factory Workshop. PASS was established to partner in the installation, repair, and maintenance of Panasonic products, while also providing students with hands-on experience through industrial internships and fieldwork. This program offers comprehensive skills, covering everything from product knowledge and installation to repair, brazing/welding techniques, and HVAC system repairs. Additionally, it provides competency certification through the Panasonic Industry Certification and BNSP Certification, organized in collaboration with TUK PGI Service, BLKK Teknik Pendingin FSPPG, and LSP Elektronika Indonesia. Participants in this program will earn certifications at various levels, ranging from Residential AC Maintenance Technician to Residential AC Technician, and even Commercial Air Conditioning and VRF System Technician. This initiative aims to prepare graduates who are competent and meet industry standards across different sectors. Besides enhancing students' skills, the program will also create job and entrepreneurial opportunities in the cooling and air conditioning sector. As of July 2024, Panasonic Gobel has signed 129 MoUs with various educational institutions in Indonesia, including 3 vocational schools and 1 polytechnic in Sumatra, 22 vocational schools and 1 university in Java, and 91 vocational schools in other regions. A key component of these MoUs is Panasonic's involvement as a guest instructor in industry classes, providing both soft and hard skill training to align vocational school curricula with industry needs.
