To ensure the readiness of the telecommunications infrastructure in the Capital City of Nusantara (IKN) to support the 79th Indonesian Independence Day Ceremony on August 17, 2024, PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) has conducted a rehearsal test of the infrastructure and telecommunication services in Balikpapan on Wednesday (17/7). The series began with a rehearsal test that included transport and service testing, power testing, and live testing of the Telkomsel network.

The rehearsal test process was led directly by the Director of Network & IT Solution Telkom Indonesia, Herlan Wijanarko, along with TelkomGroup's senior leaders. The event was also attended by the Director General of Post and Informatics Organization (PPI) of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Wayan Toni, along with officials from the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology and the Deputy of OIKN Development Control, Thomas Umbu Pati Tena Bolodadi, along with OIKN officials.

The Director of Network & IT Solution Telkom Indonesia, Herlan Wijanarko, stated that "since 2023, Telkom has been building and deploying network infrastructure to support IKN. This is not the end, but only the beginning. Our journey is still long. Telkom is committed to continuously supporting the full development of the national capital in IKN."

Overall, all TelkomGroup infrastructure and services in IKN are prepared with the best and prime capacity, diversity, and cyber security. These infrastructure and services include a 200 Gbps capacity network through 3 routes (Batu Ampar, Sepaku & Labangka) connected to 2 international gateways (Batam & Manado) and 23 data centers, as well as 1 Hyperscale Data Center (HDC) in Cikarang; 6 in/out routes in Kalimantan with undersea cable landing points at 3 locations (Takisung, Sei Kakap, and Sangatta); Red and White Satellite backup at the Telkom Smart Office (TSO) location; mobile services with 34 Telkomsel BTSs that can serve up to 35 thousand customers; and security support in the form of Next Generation Firewall and DDoS Protection.

Furthermore, Herlan added, "Alhamdulillah, the rehearsal test went smoothly and proved the reliability of the infrastructure and services provided by Telkom have been tested with potential disruptions that may occur, especially connectivity interruptions.

After the rehearsal test, we will continue to strive to maintain network quality and enhance supervision through the TelkomGroup Post in the Nusantara Service Operation Center (NSOC) in celebration of the 79th Indonesian Independence Day from August 1, 2024, until the successful implementation of the ceremony on August 17, 2024."

Additionally, the Director General of Post and Informatics (PPI) at the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Wayan Toni, appreciates Telkom's spirit and support in providing the best telecommunications infrastructure and services at IKN.

The Ministry also hopes that Telkom can continue to maintain the quality of telecommunication services, especially towards the upcoming 79th Indonesian Independence Day and future digital service needs and smart city requirements. Telkom's presence at IKN is expected to strengthen digital connectivity and make IKN a city with world-class technology, information, and communication systems. Telkom also ensures the availability of fiber optic-based telecommunication networks at several Points of Interest (POI) in the Core Area of the Government Center (KIPP) of IKN, covering 28 important locations. Experience Tests have also been conducted at 5 key locations, namely Hotel Nusantara, the plaza ceremony, the Presidential Palace of IKN, the Minister's Residence, and the Telkom Smart Office (TSO).
