Politeknik Kemenperin Achieves National Recognition For Developing Line Follower Robot

Friday, 12 Jul 2024

The logistics sector, which includes transportation and warehousing, showed a positive growth of 8.65 percent in the first quarter of 2024. To support the manufacturing industry's performance from the logistics side, the Ministry of Industry proactively organizes vocational education and training programs. One of them is the APP Jakarta Polytechnic, which produces human resources working in the logistics field.

"Providing adequate logistics infrastructure will certainly support industrial sector activities. This is because the movement of goods or commodities from producing areas to consumers can be done effectively and efficiently," said Minister of Industry AgusGumiwangKartasasmita in his statement on Thursday (11/7).

As one of the polytechnics under the Ministry of Industry, APP Jakarta Polytechnic plays a role in producing competent human resources in the logistics sector. There are three study programs opened by APP Jakarta Polytechnic, namely D-III Industrial Logistics Management Electronics, D-III International Trade in the ASEAN and China Region, and D-III Industrial Marketing Management Electronics.

"The polytechnic students are equipped with various applicable materials and skills, in accordance with current work needs, and are also challenged to create various beneficial innovations," said Head of the Ministry of Industry's Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDMI), Masrokhan.

Amazingly, students from APP Jakarta Polytechnic are able to develop line follower robots that are widely used in modern industries today. A line follower robot is a robot that uses sensors to follow lines. In an industrial context, line follower robots are closely related to automation, for example in the movement of goods and production line inspection.

"Not long ago, the robot team from APP Jakarta Polytechnic won first place in the line followers competition at Technocorner UGM 2024. This shows that the polytechnic under the Ministry of Industry has achieved impressive accomplishments," Masrokhan said.

The line follower robot developed by Politeknik APP Jakarta has various advantages, such as an up-to-date program and an easy path planning interface that is user-friendly. Equipped with sensors, control systems, mapping features, and various modes.

Moreover, the line follower robot is designed to be lightweight so that its speed can be optimal. With the latest components, the robot's speed is more focused on the provided track, making it less likely to deviate.

Previously, Politeknik APP Jakarta, through the Teaching Factory unit, held the Robot Line Followers National Contest 2024 on March 2-3, 2024, which was attended by 28 teams from various schools and universities.

Politeknik APP Jakarta is currently opening registration for new students through the Industrial Vocational Admission Route (JARVIS) program. The independent JARVIS route at the politeknik is open for registration until July 31, 2024. There is also the JARVIS Together 2 route, with registration open until July 21, 2024. For those interested in Politeknik APP Jakarta, complete registration information can be found on the website pmb.poltekapp.ac.id.
