Instagram May Release An IPad-specific App

Monday, 14 Apr 2025

Instagram, one of Meta's social networks, is rumored to be releasing a special application so that its services can be used more optimally on iPad devices.

This news was reported by The Verge, Wednesday, which stated that Meta is developing Instagram for iPad.

This was done because currently Instagram on iPad is a version of the application for iPhone but the display is larger

With the new development of the official Instagram application specifically for iPad, it is certainly very well received by the owners of this device.

After more than a decade of not looking at the potential of Apple's tablet, Meta is said to be developing a special application for iPad because it sees the current situation regarding its competitor, TikTok.

First reported by The Information, Meta sees TikTok's uncertain legal status amidst the potential ban and reciprocal tariffs from US President Trump. So this is considered to be one of the factors in creating the Instagram application for iPad.

In fact, Instagram had previously openly refused to build an Instagram iPad application.

This can be seen from the interaction of Instagram Head Adam Mosseri with his followers who in February 2022 said that his company still did not see a special iPad application as a priority.

"It's still not a priority for a bunch of people. We hope to do it at some point, but we're very busy with other things right now," Adam said at the time.

This was repeated in 2023, with Mosseri saying that the company still hasn't made developing an Instagram app for the iPad a priority.

One reason is that there are not enough resources to develop a dedicated app and Instagram is more focused on developing new features for its users.

This situation may change with the uncertain competitive conditions so that Instagram begins to look at the opportunity to create a dedicated app for iPad users.

Currently, users still use Stage Manager on the iPad to use Instagram with a fairly good experience.
