"In the booming wave of artificial intelligence (AI) technology, 2025 will be the first year of large-scale AI application," Kai-Fu Lee, CEO of 01.AI and chairman of Sinovation Ventures China, said at the recent Zhongguancun Forum 2025 Annual Conference in Beijing. Currently, the research and application of AI technology has entered an unprecedented period of intense activity, and major cutting-edge achievements continue to emerge, enabling comprehensive and in-depth economic and social development and driving new productivity. That's according to an official from China's Ministry of Science and Technology at the forum, a major gathering of experts in frontier science and technology in China. In Wang's view, AI could be an important area for the two countries to expand cooperation in the future, helping Indonesia advance its modernization and digital transformation. China has paid great attention to the development and application of AI technology in recent years, and many cities have taken steps to seize opportunities in the AI ??path. Applications such as large-scale AI models, intelligent robots, virtual reality (VR) and autonomous driving are accelerating in China's social life, covering a wide range of fields, such as education, healthcare, science and technology, logistics, agriculture and entertainment. According to the recently released China Government Work Report 2025, under the AI ??Plus initiative, China will strive to effectively combine digital technology with China's manufacturing and market strengths. By 2025, China will support the extensive application of large-scale AI models and actively develop new-generation smart manufacturing equipment and intelligent terminals, including intelligently connected new energy vehicles (NEVs), AI-powered mobile phones and computers, and intelligent robots. To date, China has 18 national pilot zones for AI innovation and development, including the cities of Beijing, Shanghai and Tianjin. According to China's New Generation AI Development Plan, by 2030, China will become a major AI innovation center in the world with the scale of AI core industries exceeding 1 trillion yuan and the scale of related industries exceeding 10 trillion yuan. At the 2025 Zhongguancun Forum Annual Conference, "AI plus" was also a hot topic. Serious cooperation in AI research and application was achieved between local governments, universities, and enterprises. The various robot products widely seen at the forum also left a deep impression on all participants. A report released at the forum showed that general AI, such as large models, is among the top 10 future industrial paths in 2025. With China's rich scientific and technological innovation resources, Beijing is currently seizing AI opportunities, organizing high-end technology research and development (R&D), and encouraging technology application demonstrations, so as to create AI innovation and leading industrial parks. By 2024, the scale of Beijing's core AI industry will reach nearly 350 billion yuan. With more than 2,400 AI-related companies, the city is at the forefront of global AI industry development, the Beijing Municipal Government said at the forum. "I believe all these resources and policies will be a good opportunity for Indonesia." Wang said Indonesia continues to boost its AI strategy and in the future, can work with China to conduct in-depth cooperation in AI R&D and properly apply AI in city governance, such as to reduce traffic congestion, provide 24-hour services for citizens, and assist doctors in diagnosing diseases.
