Google Is Reported To Be Concentrating On The AI Model Gemini In 2025

Tuesday, 31 Dec 2024

Google has announced that it will prioritize its Gemini artificial intelligence (AI) model as the company's main focus in 2025.

According to a report by CNBC, which was referenced by Tech Crunch on Saturday (December 28), Google CEO Sundar Pichai informed employees that 2025 will be a "critical" year for the organization.

Pichai conveyed this during a presentation of the company's priorities for the upcoming year at a strategic meeting held on December 18, 2024, the audio recording of which was obtained by CNBC.

"I believe 2025 will be extremely significant," stated Pichai.

"It is crucial for us to recognize the urgency of this momentum and to accelerate our efforts as a company. The stakes are high," he added.

The momentum refers to the substantial investments being made by technology companies like Google in AI development, which can yield diverse outcomes. Pichai noted that the Gemini application, developed based on the company's AI model of the same name, possesses "strong momentum," while acknowledging the existing gaps that need to be addressed.

"We have several tasks to accomplish in 2025 to bridge these gaps and establish a leadership position in this area as well," he remarked.

"Enhancing Gemini on the consumer side will be our primary focus next year," he stated.

In 2023, Google launched AI Gemini version 1, capable of processing text, images, audio, video, and code.

The company has now announced the release of the latest version of its AI model, AI Gemini version 2.0, or AI Gemini 2.0 Flash, which is available in a chatbot format for users worldwide.
