PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) is a leading digital company in Indonesia that continues to innovate to implement programs that directly impact the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). One of these goals is to support the Indonesian community, especially people with disabilities, in acquiring Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills. Inclusivity is essential in addressing the rich diversity in Indonesia. With over 270 million people from various backgrounds, cultures, religions, and abilities, inclusivity is key to ensuring that no one is left behind in the pursuit of sustainable development. According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) in the 2020 SUSENAS, there are 28 million people with disabilities in Indonesia, making up 10% of the population. However, many still face barriers in accessing education, employment, and public services. In 2024, several initiatives have been implemented, including intensive digital training for people with disabilities. This training took place in April and July-August 2024 in Yogyakarta, Purbalingga, and Palembang, with 356 participants. The goal is to enhance digital skills that align with future industry needs. In addition to the intensive digital training, Telkom, in collaboration with Rumah BUMN Telkom, has organized capacity-building training for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) run by people with disabilities. Held at Rumah BUMN Pekalongan and Bangli, this training encourages local SMEs to develop their creativity through handicrafts. Telkom is also providing support for students with disabilities by supplying multimedia PCs and installing the i-Chat application. i-Chat is a Telkom-developed app designed to help communication between individuals and those with hearing and speech disabilities. This app aims to enable users to communicate confidently with others. Throughout 2024, Telkom has delivered digital devices and i-Chat to 11 Special Schools (SLB) across Indonesia, including areas in West Java, benefiting over 300 students with disabilities. Hery Susanto, Senior General Manager of Social Responsibility at Telkom, stated, "As part of our commitment to the SDGs, it is essential to create an environment that empowers individuals with disabilities through inclusive education. Utilizing technology is one way to open new opportunities for their participation in various sectors, from education to entrepreneurship." Telkom is dedicated to promoting various programs to achieve the SDGs, focusing on training and enhancing digital skills, especially for individuals with disabilities through improved Information and Communication Technology skills. In the future, we hope that inclusive digital training for people with disabilities will enhance their digital capabilities and provide opportunities for them to excel in various industries.
