Nine financial technology (fintech) companies are in Jakarta this week to participate in the Landing Pad Fintech Immersion Week, organized by the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade), and to attend the Indonesian Fintech Summit and Expo (IFSE) 2024. The Landing Pad Fintech Immersion Week aims to connect Australian fintech firms with leading industry players in Indonesia, exploring partnership opportunities that support the growth of digital financial services in the country. “Australia and Indonesia share similar experiences in adopting financial technology, and it is exciting to witness closer collaboration between our technology sectors,” stated Gita Kamath, Australia's Chargé d'Affaires to Indonesia. “The Landing Pad program is designed to deepen understanding and act as a catalyst for further cooperation between Indonesian and Australian companies, as well as to open future opportunities.” As part of the Australia - Southeast Asia Business Exchange (A-SEABX) program last June, Austrade signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Indonesian Fintech Association (AFTECH) to enhance cooperation and partnerships in the fintech sector. “We are pleased that Australian fintech companies are participating in the Indonesia Fintech Summit and Expo 2024 this year. Their involvement has brought Australian fintech capabilities closer and sparked valuable discussions on how Indonesia and Australia can complement each other in the financial technology sector,” remarked Aries Setiadi, Executive Director of the Indonesian Fintech Association (AFTECH). The Landing Pad program is one of the initiatives under the Australia Southeast Asia Economic Strategy, launched in March 2024.
