The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) has partnered with the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology (KITECH) to expedite the development of sustainable new and renewable energy technologies and to foster international collaboration in addressing global energy challenges. Tata Sutardi, Head of the Energy Conversion and Conservation Research Center at BRIN, stated that the collaboration aims to enable researchers from both BRIN and KITECH to conduct joint studies. Additionally, it seeks to synergize competent human resources to support research and innovation achievements. "This collaboration is expected to not only enhance the quality of research but also accelerate the development of innovations and technologies that can provide direct benefits to society," Tata remarked in a written statement on Thursday, November 28, 2024. BRIN and KITECH have agreed to collaborate on research in several areas, including carbon neutrality, emission reduction, biofuels, bioenergy, photovoltaic (PV) technology, wind energy, electrical systems, microgrids, and the development of charging stations. Furthermore, research will also focus on the production of crude oil and unconventional gas, as well as innovations in local content-based manufacturing industries. Strengthening Research Cooperation Meanwhile, Changyeop Lee, Executive Managing Director of KITECH, expressed that the collaboration aims to enhance research cooperation opportunities, particularly in the fields of energy, biomass, and manufacturing technology. "We seek to delve deeper into renewable energy technologies and more efficient manufacturing processes that can support the sustainability of industries in both countries," Lee explained. Cuk Supriyadi Ali Nandar, Head of the Energy and Manufacturing Research Organization at BRIN, noted that Indonesia is currently focused on the development of renewable energy, emphasizing solar, hydro, and geothermal power.
