The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs, in collaboration with the German Ministry of Digital and Transport, is engaged in initiatives related to digital infrastructure, technology, and internet regulations. The signing of this cooperation took place during the International Digital Dialogue Conference (IDDC) 2024 in Berlin on November 21-22. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Minister Meutya Hafid and German Minister Volker Wissing. The areas of collaboration between the two ministries include: - Digital policies and strategies - Data policies - Internet governance and processes - Digital technology - Sustainable digital transformation - Digital inclusion, encompassing the development of digital economic infrastructure and internet accessibility This partnership is a continuation of the progress made during the annual Indonesian-German Digital Dialogue (IGDD) 2023, which resulted in the Joint Declaration of Intent (JDoI) on Cooperation in the Field of Digitalization. In her speech at IDCC 2024, Minister Meutya Hafid emphasized the importance of fundamental principles in digital transformation, which include inclusivity, empowerment, and trust. The Indonesian government prioritizes the availability of reliable and affordable internet access for all citizens. "Additionally, we aim to create an empowering digital economic ecosystem and enhance media and digital literacy among the populace," she stated in a press release on November 24. Minister Hafid also met with Indonesian startup innovators participating in IDDC 2024, noting that such events serve as a platform to showcase Indonesia's innovations on the international stage. During the event, she also engaged with Japan's Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications, Takuo Imagawa, to discuss cross-border cooperation, particularly in addressing digital challenges, including artificial intelligence, and leveraging opportunities.
