The education unit of the Indonesian Ministry of Industry, Politeknik APP Jakarta, welcomed a group of learners from the Timor Leste Ministry of Education. They showcased their advancements in digitalization and the implementation of logistics technology 4.0 through their Smart Factory and Smart Warehouse.

"The vocational education units under Kemenperin, which include polytechnics, community academies, and vocational schools, each have their own specialties to prepare graduates who are skilled in various industrial sectors. For logistics, Politeknik APP Jakarta offers relevant study programs," said Masrokhan, Head of the Human Resource Development Agency for Industry (BPSMI), in a statement in Jakarta on Tuesday (August 13).

The visit aimed to dive deeper into Warehouse Management Systems, warehouse digitalization, and other logistics fields. The Timor Leste delegation also got hands-on experience using the SAP Business One application, which has numerous functions for managing all logistics aspects.

Politeknik APP Jakarta has integrated Warehouse Management System learning through its Smart Factory, giving students a glimpse into the work environment in logistics and warehousing. The Smart Warehouse concept serves as a learning tool for industry 4.0 in this sector, preparing human resources to be tech-savvy in line with the vision of Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita.

"The Smart Factory and Smart Warehouse facilitate learning about raw material storage, quality control, product production, product warehousing, energy management, and waste management. This smart warehouse is equipped with a Product Validation Barcode to verify the authenticity of the products," said A.R. Arie Wicaksono, Director of Politeknik APP Jakarta, while welcoming the Timor Leste delegation.

Arie is hoping that this visit will shed new light on the digitalization of logistics and help improve the quality of logistics services in Timor Leste. He also sees it as a chance to exchange knowledge about the logistics situation in both countries. Additionally, Arie wishes for this visit to open doors for educational collaboration between nations. "I hope that the theoretical and practical knowledge gained from this short training for the Timor Leste Ministry of Education's logistics division can be put into action to boost logistics management efficiency, especially in the Warehouse Management System (WMS) in Timor Leste," he said. In the logistics field, Politeknik APP Jakarta offers a D-III program in Electronic Industry Logistics Management. They also have D-III programs in International Trade focusing on ASEAN and China, as well as D-III in Electronic Industry Marketing Management. Politeknik APP Jakarta is strengthening vocational education in the industry as a model for competency-based education that aligns with industry needs.
