The board of directors at PT Pertamina (Persero) recently paid a visit to the LPG Terminal Tanjung Sekong, which plays a crucial role in the national LPG distribution network. During the visit, PT Pertamina (Persero) CEO Nicke Widyawati expressed her appreciation for the improvements made at the energy terminal managed by PT Pertamina Energy Terminal (PET). Joining Nicke were several directors from the Pertamina Group, including A. Salyadi Saputra, the Director of Strategy, Portfolio, and Business Development, Siddik Badrudin, the Director of Risk Management, and others like Riva Siahaan, CEO of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, and Yoki Firnandi, CEO of PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS). "I was surprised when I arrived and saw the terminal facilities; they are much better and truly reflect Pertamina Group. We toured around, and every aspect here has been well thought out," Nicke said on Thursday (1/8). She praised the enhancements in the energy terminal's facilities, highlighting improvements in safety, digitalization, energy mix, reliability, capacity, and commercial aspects. She noted that during the visit, her main focus was on the strong emphasis on safety at the LPG Terminal Tanjung Sekong, which is well-managed to mitigate potential risks, including leaks. "We also observed that digitalization, both in the field and in the control room, has created a good synergy between PET and Pertamina Trans Kontinental, which manages the port. Everything is connected, and moving forward, we just need to enhance data utilization." Nicke also pointed out the importance of energy mix utilization, mentioning that the terminal has already installed solar power systems and should keep increasing their share. Regarding reliability, the LPG Terminal Tanjung Sekong, which handles 40% of the national LPG supply, has been praised for its smooth operations, ensuring uninterrupted distribution. "There's still potential to enhance Tanjung Sekong's capacity to support other terminals. There's room for growth," Nicke emphasized. Riva Siahaan, the CEO of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga (PPN), expressed hope that improvements in terminal facilities would boost operational performance and service quality, ensuring smooth energy distribution, especially LPG, to the public. "This also reflects the strong synergy within the Pertamina Group to support national energy resilience," he added. Yoki Firnandi, CEO of PIS, mentioned that the LPG Terminal Tanjung Sekong will set a standard for energy terminal management by PET. "We encourage PET to conduct benchmarking studies so that Pertamina Group terminals can meet international standards," Yoki explained. As a reminder, LPG Terminal Tanjung Sekong is one of six energy terminals managed by PET, a subsidiary of PIS. Over the past year, PET has enhanced the capabilities of the Tanjung Sekong LPG Terminal by integrating advanced technologies. The upgrades at the terminal located in Cilegon, Banten, have made LPG management and distribution more efficient and integrated. Since its operation began in 2012, the terminal spans 12.9 hectares and has a storage capacity of 98,000 Metric Tons (MT) or 196,000 Cubic Meters (CBM). In 2020, the LPG Terminal Tanjung Sekong was upgraded to a Refrigerated LPG Terminal, featuring three docks capable of accommodating vessels ranging from 3,500 to 65,000 deadweight tonnage (DWT).
