BSI And The Forum Of Editors Are Working Together To Provide Social Assistance For Media Professionals

Wednesday, 12 Mar 2025

PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk (BSI) has partnered with the Forum of Editors (Forum Pemred) to provide social assistance to media professionals in need. This collaboration is part of the Ramadan Silaturahmi event, called Forum Pemred Charity X BSI.

This year, BSI has allocated Rp 200 million in aid, an increase from Rp 100 million last year. The funds will help media workers facing financial difficulties.

BSI's CEO, Hery Gunardi, mentioned that this initiative is part of the company's regular social programs. It aligns with BSI's three main roles in the community: as a Financial Friend, Social Friend, and Spiritual Friend. "We appreciate the media's contribution to BSI's growth, especially since the merger, as we celebrate our fourth anniversary and become the fifth-largest bank in Indonesia. Therefore, we support this charity program as part of the media ecosystem," Hery stated in a press release on Saturday (March 9, 2025).

He added that BSI focuses not only on Islamic banking but also on balancing social and spiritual aspects. Since its establishment, BSI has been committed to fostering good relationships with various parties, including journalists through the Forum Pemred.

Retno Pinasti, the Chair of Forum Pemred, noted that this collaboration continues BSI's social programs that began in 2024. It aims to benefit not just Forum Pemred members but also the wider journalist community and society. In addition to social aid, the program includes educational support for the children of journalists who have passed away, are ill, or face economic hardships. Assistance will also be provided to media figures and editorial staff. "We hope to offer scholarships for children from media families in need in the future," Retno said.

Hery added that this social activity is a way to express gratitude for BSI's performance growth since its inception. As of December 2024, BSI has entered the top 10 global Islamic banks by market capitalization and recorded the highest profit growth in Indonesia.

By the end of 2024, BSI's total assets exceeded Rp 400 trillion, with a double-digit profit growth. BSI also maintained asset quality, with a non-performing financing ratio below 2% and a cost of credit under 1%.

"BSI continues to innovate and transform digitally to expand its business. Currently, our fee-based income ratio is nearly 18%. With the right strategy, it is possible for BSI to rank among the top three global Islamic banks in the next 5 to 10 years," said Hery.

The Minister of Religious Affairs, Nasaruddin Umar, who attended the event, praised the collaboration between companies and the media. He emphasized that the media plays a crucial role in conveying messages to the public.
