Trade Minister Budi Santoso, also known as Mendag Busan, along with Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan, visited the Pabean Sedati Tourism Market in Sidoarjo, East Java, today, Wednesday (8/1). They were joined by Acting Governor of East Java Adhy Karyono. The visit aimed to check the condition of essential goods in East Java, including Sidoarjo. "The prices of essential goods here at the Pabean Sedati Market are below the highest retail price (HET) and reference prices. The exception is for bird's eye chili, which is priced at Rp80,000–90,000/kg. However, chicken, meat, and eggs are all below HET. Overall, prices in East Java are good," said Food Minister Zulkifli Hasan. Today's observations showed that the prices of essential commodities sold at or below the highest retail price (HET) and reference prices include medium rice at Rp12,500/kg, Bulog Stabilization of Supply and Food Prices (SPHP) rice at Rp12,500/kg, MINYAKITA at Rp15,500/liter, beef at Rp115,000/kg, broiler chicken at Rp38,000/kg, eggs at Rp27,000/kg, red onions at Rp35,000/kg, curly red chili at Rp55,000/kg, and honan garlic at Rp37,000/kg. Meanwhile, premium rice is recorded at Rp14,500/kg, granulated sugar at Rp18,500/kg, and kating garlic at Rp40,000/kg. Other commodities observed include bulk cooking oil at Rp19,500/liter, premium packaged cooking oil at Rp20,000/liter, and wheat flour at Rp12,000/kg. Red bird's eye chili is noted to be around Rp85,000/kg. The government hopes that after the harvest season, the price of red bird's eye chili will decrease within the next two weeks. Mendag Busan stated that prices in East Java are relatively stable. There has been an increase in the price of curly red chili, which is at Rp48,100/kg. However, this price is still lower than the national price of Rp51,000/kg and the reference price of Rp55,000/kg. "After the Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025 (Nataru) period, the prices of essential goods nationwide, including in East Java, remain relatively stable. The government is committed. Soon, we will enter the month of fasting," said Minister Busan.
