PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) continues to show its commitment to empowering Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia. Recently, two MSMEs supported by BCA from Padang and Tulungagung made their first exports, on Thursday (November 28) and Wednesday (December 18), respectively. The MSME from Tulungagung specializes in natural stone furniture and successfully shipped products to France and the Netherlands. Meanwhile, the MSME from Padang produces spice products and secured an export contract with Thailand. This export activity is part of the "BCA Go Export MSME" program, which also supports the government’s efforts to enhance the role of Indonesian MSMEs in the global market. Hera F. Haryn, EVP of Corporate Communication & Social Responsibility at BCA, stated, "The success of BCA-supported MSMEs in exporting is clear evidence that Indonesian MSMEs have great potential to compete internationally. More than just exports, this is the first step to introducing Indonesian products to the global stage and creating larger opportunities in the future. BCA is proud to support their journey through the BCA Go Export MSME program, which is an ecosystem we created to help MSMEs grow and become competitive." Previously, the "BCA Go Export MSME" program has successfully encouraged other supported MSMEs to enter international markets. By the end of 2024, the total potential export value generated is expected to reach around IDR 37 billion. Other commodities that have been successfully exported include cocoa powder, chocolate products, fish processing, handicrafts, premium seeds, nuts, and beauty products. Additional export destinations include Malaysia, Singapore, China, Japan, Australia, India, the United Arab Emirates, and Papua New Guinea. This program has been running since 2023, and this year BCA is partnering with the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Indonesia. Over the past two years, nearly 120 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) have been supported. The program is located in several regions with the highest number of SMEs in Indonesia, including West Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta, East Java, and West Sumatra. In its implementation, BCA and ICC Indonesia first conduct pre-curation through market research and consolidation. This activity aims to identify SME products that have potential demand in the global market and provide information about target export countries and potential consumer data. After the pre-curation stage, SMEs go through a curation process, which evaluates products based on business alignment, production capacity, document completeness, field verification results, and suitability for global market needs. Once all these stages are completed, SMEs that pass the curation process receive training and support to access international markets. BCA also encourages SMEs to participate in prestigious promotional events like Trade Expo Indonesia and BCA UMKM Fest, while assisting in transactions with potential foreign buyers. By the end of 2024, the "UMKM BCA Go Export" program is expected to achieve a tenfold increase in business matching year-on-year. "Through various inclusive programs, BCA is committed to supporting SMEs not just to survive but to thrive as key players in the global market. In the future, we will continue to strengthen the UMKM BCA Go Export program, focusing on enhancing business capabilities, improving product quality, and expanding market access. This step is part of our commitment to ensure SMEs become a strong and sustainable backbone of Indonesia's economy," concluded Hera F. Haryn.
