Recently, PT CRIF Lembaga Informasi Keuangan (CLIK) reported misuse of a company address and the name of the Financial Information Service System (SLIK) by unauthorized parties related to illegal fintech lending on social media. This issue came to light when a victim of illegal loans visited CLIK's office to inquire about their loan funds. Upon investigation, CLIK found an account named “slik.com.id” that is not registered with the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and is being promoted on Instagram. This entity has violated regulations by using CLIK's address and the SLIK name as its own. “We sympathize with the victims of these illegal fintech companies. This behavior is unacceptable and could lead to more victims. Moreover, the social media account is still active,” said CLIK's President Director, Leonardo Lapalorcia. CLIK has reported this fraudulent entity to the OJK and the Indonesian Peer-to-Peer Lending Association (AFPI) for further action. They have also provided links to the relevant accounts/channels. “We urge the public to remain cautious of various advertisements and offers claiming to be from fintech lending companies, especially those promising instant funds after sending a certain amount of money. Do not trust just a screenshot from someone else claiming that funds have been received. No legitimate fintech lending company promotes itself in this way,” emphasized Leonardo. Leonardo also advised industry players to stay vigilant and regularly check data or public information that could be misused by irresponsible individuals. When any form of data misuse is discovered, we urge industry players to report it to OJK and AFPI. This is crucial to prevent more victims or greater losses in the future, he stated. AFPI Chairman Entjik S. Djafar emphasized, "It is vital for the entire fintech ecosystem to unite against illegal online lending practices. This call from CLIK aligns with AFPI's commitment to protect consumers and maintain the integrity of the fintech lending industry." The presence of illegal fintech company accounts poses serious risks of data misuse that can damage the credibility of all entities in the fintech funding service industry. "At the end of the year, fraud trends typically rise. Therefore, we advise the public to be cautious of tempting offers for instant funds with suspicious terms. Always verify if the company has an official website, a customer service phone number, and active social media as initial filters," Leonardo concluded.
