Thursday, 28 Nov 2024

The halal industry in Indonesia is showing significant growth in 2023-2024. As the country with the largest Muslim population in the world, Indonesia is strengthening its role as a key player in the global Islamic economy. Various strategic policies and government support for the halal industry have boosted the growth of leading sectors, enhancing Indonesia's contribution to the global halal value chain.

Key sectors in the halal industry, such as halal food and beverages and modest fashion, have seen growth rates of 5.87% and 3.81% year-on-year, respectively. This indicates that in the future, the national economy may be largely driven by the Islamic economy through the development of the halal industry, according to Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita in a statement on Wednesday (November 27).

The Minister also highlighted the vast potential of the Islamic economy and halal industry. According to the State of the Global Islamic Economy Report (SGIER) 2023/2024, global halal product consumption is expected to reach USD 2.4 trillion by 2024.

One of Indonesia's strategies, through the Ministry of Industry, is to enhance the promotion of halal products at prestigious international events, including participation in the "Halal Expo Turkey," one of the largest halal exhibitions in the world. In 2023, Indonesia achieved a trade transaction commitment of Rp 10.4 billion. This success serves as a strategic momentum to continue more focused promotional efforts. In 2024, Indonesia will again showcase its Pavilion featuring leading products from various sectors.

At the Halal Expo Turkey 2024, Indonesia showcased its Pavilion featuring 12 leading industry players as co-exhibitors. These include: 1.) PT Bintan Inti Industrial Estate, 2.)
